General Description: The Lake George Association (LGA) is an
environmental not-for-profit located in Lake George, New York. For additional

The Education Intern will be responsible for assisting the LGA Education and
Outreach Coordinator with programs and activities to meet the LGA's goals and
objectives. The Education Intern will help to expand individual and community
awareness, involvement, and support for a reasoned and balanced approach to the
conservation and protection of Lake George's water quality and its surrounding
watershed.
Duties: The main duty of the Education Intern will be to develop and
present a series of family programs on topics related to the Lake George
Watershed. The Education Intern will have the opportunity to plan the programs
on their own, deciding on the topic and activities for each one. The Education
and Outreach Coordinator will provide assistance and guidance in planning and
conducting the programs, but the intern is expected to be largely responsible
for the development and success of the programs.
Other duties of the intern will be to assist with a variety of LGA
activities, including but not limited to: The Floating Classroom program, the
Lake George Watershed Lake Steward Program, Drop a Brick on Zebra Mussels,
Invasive Species Awareness Week events, Website and publication research and
writing, and various other events and programs during the summer.
Required Skills and Background: Strong written and oral communication
skills, public speaking skills, organizational skills, self-motivated and
outgoing, creative and resourceful, interest in working in various settings with
students in grades 3-12 and adults.
Preferred Coursework and/or work experience in any of the following areas:
environmental education, environmental interpretation, limnology, fisheries,
hydrology, stream ecology, soil and water conservation, field biology, general
aquatic ecology, natural resource management, plant ecology, or related studies.
Salary: $8-$10/hour depending on experience. Please note: housing is
not provided with this internship. Intern is responsible for own housing.
