Lake George Watershed Steward Assistant Coordinator

Spend your summer outdoors on beautiful Lake George. Help protect the lake by interacting with lake users and educating them about invasive species and other water quality issues. This position is available through the Lake George Watershed Conference.

Full time position: 40 hours/week - 5 days/week including weekends with 2 days off mid-week.
· Must be able to start by May 19th
· Must have own vehicle
· End date flexible based on school schedule
· Pay rate is $11/hour

Position Summary: Coordinate scheduling of 4 stewards at boat launches around Lake George. Stewards will provide public outreach and education about the threats of ecologically harmful aquatic invasive species to the waters of Lake George and other waterways. Visit stewards daily at boat launches and assist in their educational activities when appropriate. Help with the set up, take down, and operation of a portable boat wash station as needed. Oversee and assist stewards with data collection and report writing.

Required Skills and Background:
· Strong verbal communication skills
· Sound understanding of customer relations
· Well organized and ability to coordinate multiple tasks
· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
· Ability to supervise college-aged students
· Demonstrated interest in environmental work through education, volunteer work and/or hobbies.
· must possess a valid NYS driver's license.
