Lake George Carols Contest
2007 winners

The Lake George Association held its second annual "Lake George Carols" contest for local elementary schools this year. Students took a traditional carol and adapted the words to include Lake George related topics. Wildlife, water quality, recreation - it was all fair game.

The prize for the contest is a pizza party for the class of each student with a winning entry. The LGA Education and Outreach Coordinator Emily DeBolt will visit the classes in January bringing pizza and some fun facts about Lake George to share with the students.

Lake George is the Place to Be

(Sung to the tune of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer")
by Christina LaRose - Whitehall Elementary School

You know boating and fishing
And swimming and tanning,
In winter there's also
Ice skating and sledding,
But do you recall,
There's a lot more to Lake George?

There is a Floating Classroom.
They spend two hours on board,
And go to Up Yonda Farm.
You can even learn a lot.

All of this fun to do
We have to care for it.
They didn't know the problems,
If the lake is not clean.

Then one foggy afternoon
Someone came to say:
"Lake George needs to be kept clean.
Won't you help us out today?"

Then how the people loved it,
As they shouted out with glee,
"Lake George is a such a great spot.
You'll go down in history."

The Twelve Days at Lake George

(Sung to the tune of "The Twelve Days of Christmas")
by Shelby Keane and Michaela McCoy - Whitehall Elementary School

On my twelfth day at Lake George,
My mom took me to see
12 pesky zebra mussels,
11 Adirondack mountains,
10 people swimming,
9 Great Blue Herons,
8 noisy jet-skis,
7 Lake George islands,
6 Fort Ti soldiers,
5 milfoil weeds,
4 Rainbow Trout,
3 frogs in wetlands,
2 Adirondack cruise ships,
And a goose flying over Log Bay.
