LENDER NAMED CONSERVATIONIST OF THE YEAR BY WARREN COUNTY
Lake George, NY – At its year-end meeting and banquet, Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District (WCSWCD) named Walt Lender as the recipient of the District’s 2008 Conservationist of the Year award. Lender is the executive director of the Lake George Association (LGA).
Dave Wick, District Manager of WCSWCD, presented Lender with a plaque featuring a photograph of Lake George by local photographer, Joe Kaye.
In his remarks, Wick mentioned the dramatic increase in the amount of work done cooperatively between WCSWCD and the LGA since Lender took over the non-profit, 4 years ago. He stated that, under Lender’s tenure, the LGA has become the District’s biggest project partner.
Wick also pointed out Walt’s strong suit of being able to bring groups together to get things done.
“Walt is usually the person in the room who keeps people mindful of the goal,” said Wick, “and focused on the results, rather than the details that often bog down the works.”
During his own remarks, Lender was quick to point out the benefits and tangible value of working with the District.
“The LGA makes it a point to look for every opportunity to work with Dave and his amazing staff,” said Lender. “We know that we will get the best bang for our buck in protecting Lake George. Our two groups are working together proactively to identify threats to the lake and opportunities for projects to address stormwater runoff and erosion. The LGA could not be more pleased with this relationship, since it helps both organizations fulfill our missions effectively.”
The LGA is a
not-for-profit membership organization of people interested in working together
to protect, conserve, and improve the beauty and quality of the Lake George
Basin. Interested in becoming an LGA
member? Contact the LGA at (518)
