Lake George, NY – The Lake George Association, the nation’s first lake association, is pleased to announce a scholarship opportunity to graduating high school seniors that will be attending college and plan to pursue studies in an environmentally related field. The LGA will award $250 to a senior who submits the best essay on the role Lake George has played in the student’s life and why the lake and its watershed should be protected for the future.

Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:

· The student’s experience on the LGA’s Floating Classroom

· Employment and recreation experiences related to Lake George

· Preserving and improving the water quality of the lake

The student is encouraged to use his or her own ideas and be as creative as possible. The essay must be word processed, 12 point font, double spaced and 800 words or less. A resources cited page must be attached if research is done and facts are included.

Essays must be postmarked or submitted to the LGA by May 11, 2007. Essays may be mailed, emailed or dropped off at the LGA office.
