BOOKMARK DESIGN CONTEST FOCUSES ON LAKE PROTECTION

Lake George, NY – The Lake George Association (LGA), on behalf of the Lake George Watershed Coalition (LGWC), has announced that entries are being accepted for the second annual Lake George Bookmark Design Contest.

The contest is open to students in Grades 4-7 from schools located within the Lake George watershed. This would include Whitehall, Lake George, Bolton, Ticonderoga, Queensbury, Fort Ann, Warrensburg and Lake Luzerne schools.

Designs must be done in marker, crayon, colored pencil, or watercolors on unlined paper. The theme should focus on lake and watershed issues such as water quality, invasive species, aquatic and terrestrial plants and animals, streams and wetlands, pollution, lake ecology and lake health.

The winning design will be printed on a bookmark, along with the student’s name and school. The bookmarks will be distributed to schools, libraries and other locations throughout the Lake George watershed.

The deadline for submissions is April 29, 2009. Entry forms with the 3” by 8” template can be downloaded online at www.lakegeorgeassociation.org or www.lakegeorge2000.org.

Completed forms and designs can be dropped off at the Lake George Association office on Route 9N in the Town of Lake George, or they can be mailed to:
