benefits of RAIN GARDENS
TO be addressed at LGA’s annual meeting
Lake George, NY – The Lake George Association, the nation’s first lake association, will be holding its 122nd Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 16th at the Lake George Club in Diamond Point in the town of Bolton Landing. Registration for the meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. and it will commence at 9:30 a.m. The meeting is open to the public.
The LGA is proud to announce that this year’s keynote speaker will be Sharon Anderson, Cayuga Lake Watershed Steward. Ms. Anderson is also on the Board of Directors for the New York State Federation of Lake Associations (NYSFOLA).
The title of the keynote address will be “Creating a Rain Garden.” Rain gardens are landscaped depressions that act as stormwater detention basins by capturing rain water and allowing it to soak into the ground. Rain gardens also add beauty to yards, provide habitat for butterflies and birds, reduce flooding and protect streams and lakes from pollutants.
Each year, the LGA Annual Meeting proves to be an educational and informative event for all concerned lake users. This year, the LGA staff members will make a joint presentation outlining the LGA’s Lake Saving programs and projects. Information regarding issues facing Lake George will also be highlighted in several displays.
Attendees will be able to meet the LGA’s Board of Directors and its staff, including the organization’s executive director, Walt Lender.
Following the close of the Annual Meeting, there will be a buffet lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. The cost of $20 includes meal and gratuity. If you have any questions regarding the Annual Meeting, please contact the LGA office at (518) 668-3558.
The LGA is a not-for-profit
membership organization of people interested in working together to protect,
conserve, and improve the beauty and quality of the Lake George Basin. Interested in becoming an LGA member? Contact the LGA at (518) 668-3558 or check
