LGA CALENDARS TO BENEFIT LAKE SAVING PROJECTS

Lake George, NY – The Lake George Association has produced a 2009 calendar that will benefit the environmental non-profit’s work. Proceeds from sales of “Lake George – A Scene of Beauty” will go to support the LGA’s Lake Saving Programs and Projects.

Like last year’s successful calendar, the 12” x 18” full-color calendar features reproductions of paintings of Lake George by artists from the Hudson River School including Moore, Decker, Hart, Watrous, Frost, Parton and Bristol. The paintings were donated for use from the private collections of several LGA members.

The 12-month calendar will be available for sale in some stores around the lake, or it can be purchased directly from the LGA for $12.95 plus shipping.

This marks the fifth year that the LGA has produced a calendar as a fundraiser. According to Walt Lender, the LGA’s Executive Director, the conservation group’s 123 years worth of hard work protecting Lake George is evident in the fact that the views of the lake in paintings and photographs remain largely unchanged.

“Artists, including painters and photographers, have been coming to Lake George for well over a hundred years,” said Lender. “So many people have been inspired by the area’s beauty that we have a wealth of images from which to choose – enough for this calendar and at least one more.”

“Fortunately, we have some very generous members who have allowed us access to their private collections,” he added. “To have LGA members involved in the creation of such a great piece really makes this special.”

To purchase “Lake George – A Scene of Beauty,” contact the LGA office at (518) 668-3558.

Previews of all of the images used in this calendar can be seen on the LGA’s website: www.lakegeorgeassociation.org.

The LGA is a not-for-profit membership organization of people interested in working together to protect, conserve, and improve the beauty and quality of the Lake George Basin. For more information, contact the LGA at (518) 668-3558 or check out LGA on the web at www.lakegeorgeassociation.org.
