LGA INVITES PUBLIC TO ATTEND 124TH ANNUAL
MEETING
Lake George, NY – The Lake George Association, the nation’s oldest lake association, will be holding its 124th Annual Meeting on Saturday, June 13th at the Lake George Club in Diamond Point in the Town of Bolton Landing. Registration for the meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the meeting will commence at 9:00 a.m. This event is free and open to the public.
This year’s keynote speaker will be Colleen Hickey, Education and Outreach Coordinator for the Lake Champlain Basin Program.
The title of the keynote address will be “Lawn to Lake: Tips for Green Lawns, Not Green Lakes.” The presentation will provide tips for lake-friendly landscaping and lawn care, such as installing a vegetative buffer using native plants and switching to low- or no-phosphorus fertilizer. Promoting these types of lake-friendly practices has been an on-going LGA campaign for many years. The LGA has actively advocated for reductions in the levels of phosphorus in household and lawn care products for almost 4 decades.
Each year, the LGA Annual Meeting proves to be an educational and informative event for all concerned lake users. This year, the LGA staff members will make a joint presentation outlining the LGA’s Lake Saving programs and projects, including an update on the West Brook Conservation Initiative and the LGA Floating Classroom. Information regarding issues facing Lake George will also be highlighted in several displays.
Attendees will be able to meet the LGA’s Board of Directors and its staff, including the organization’s executive director, Walt Lender.
After the meeting, attendees will be invited to tour the new LGA Floating Classroom vessel, a 40’ Corinthian Catamaran.
The LGA is a not-for-profit membership organization of
people interested in working together to protect, conserve, and improve the
beauty and quality of the Lake George Basin. For more information, contact the
LGA at (518) 668-3558 or check out LGA on the web at www.lakegeorgeassociation.org.
