Lake George, NY – The New York State Safe Boating Course will be offered at the offices of the Lake George Association (LGA) on State Route 9N in the Town of Lake George. The 3-part course will take place on July 13, 14 and 16 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The Safe Boating Course is open to adults, as well as to children as long as they are 10 years old by the first day of the course. Registration is free and can be made through the Lake George Association by calling the office at (518) 668-3558. The class size is limited to 25 participants.

The Safe Boating Course is the required course for young boaters age 10 to 18 in New York State. It is also the required course for any person in New York State who is driving a Personal Water Craft (PWC), sometimes referred to as a jet-ski.

In order to pass the course, participants must attend all 3 classes in their entirety, complete all assigned homework and pass the final test. For those people 18 and over who complete all requirements to pass the course, there will be a $10 fee at the end of the course that they will send in to receive their course completion card.

Rex Moon, the course instructor, has been boating on Lake George for over 50 years. He has been a New York State Boating Instructor since 1997.

The LGA is a not-for-profit membership organization of people interested in working together to protect, conserve, and improve the beauty and quality of the Lake George Basin. For more information, contact the LGA at (518) 668-3558 or check out LGA on the web at www.lakegeorgeassociation.org.
