family-friendly programs focus on lakes this weekend

Lake George, NY – The Lake George Association (LGA) will take part in two family-friendly events leading into this weekend. The focus of these events will be on lakes: how they “work” and how we can help protect them.

On Friday, the LGA will offer one of its “Family Programs,” which will illustrate the delicate balance of food webs in Lake George. It will be held at Rogers Park in Bolton Landing from 10:00 to 11:00 am.

On Saturday, staff from the LGA will have a booth set up at Adirondack Waterfest, which will be held at Bicentennial Park in Ticonderoga from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Kids and adults alike will be able to learn about water quality and how they can help to protect Lake George from pollution and invasive species.

As part of the Waterfest activities, the LGA Floating Classroom will be available for free boat rides at the Mossy Point boat launch. The new 40’ Corinthian catamaran will depart at noon and then again at 2:00 p.m.

Both of these events are free and open to the public.

For more information, contact the LGA at (518) 668-3558.

The LGA is a not-for-profit membership organization of people interested in working together to protect, conserve, and improve the beauty and quality of the Lake George Basin.
