day-long MUSIC FESTIVAL TO RAISE lake AWARENESS

Lake George, NY – The 1st annual Lake-a-palooza Festival for Lake Awareness will take place on Sunday, August 24th from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Judd’s Tavern in Lake George Village, according to James Hood, Communications Coordinator for the Lake George Association (LGA). Hood is one of the event’s organizers.

Local bands and solo musicians will donate their time and talent, providing a soundtrack for this day-long event. Scheduled to perform are Chuck Kelsey, Live Without Annette, Phil Camp, Deja Blue, Jonathan Newell Duo and Day in the Life.

According to Hood, the goal of the event is to raise awareness of the issues facing Lake George and of the work the LGA, a 123 year-old environmental non-profit, puts into protecting the lake.

“There is a whole generation of young adults who are passionate about Lake George and its protection,” said Hood. “They want to learn about the issues and how they can contribute. Lake-a-palooza is not a fundraiser. It’s the start of a grass-roots movement.”

In addition to the musical entertainment, LGA staff members will be on-hand to talk about the lake and to distribute information about the LGA. Topics will include Lake George’s water quality, invasive species and the West Brook Conservation Initiative, which is a major project to reconstruct pollutant-filtering wetlands on the site of the former Gaslight Village in Lake George.

Radio Lake George will broadcast the event live over the web at www.radiolakegeorge.com.

There is no cover charge for the event. For more information, go online to www.myspace.com/lakegeorgeassociation or call the LGA office at 668-3558.

The LGA is a not-for-profit membership organization of people interested in working together to protect, conserve, and improve the beauty and quality of the Lake George Basin.  Interested in becoming an LGA member?  Contact the LGA at (518) 668-3558 or check out LGA on the web at www.lakegeorgeassociation.org.
