"Our
Lake Book" is a series of publications produced by the LGA about
issues confronting Lake George. The objective of these publications is to
provide watershed residents with a greater understanding of environmental
cause-and-effect relationships, and actions we all can take to protect our lake.
Additional articles will be published from time to time to provide more
specific and timely information. We welcome comments and suggestions for future
segments.
Our actions can affect the quality of Lake George, even if we don't live on
the shoreline, but simply within the watershed. Things we do everyday can affect
groundwater and lake water. Little things like leaving bare, exposed soil,
over-fertilizing the lawn or failing to have our septic systems pumped out
regularly, all add up. Cumulative impacts over time can drastically change the
lake.
Simple actions and changes in our behavior can protect the lake from
pollution. Each of us can make a difference. "Our
Lake Book" tells you how.
