Basin falls completely within the Adirondack Park. The APA is an independent,

offers useful information about this land preservation organization, the places they
protect and field trips. The mission of the Lake George Land Conservancy
(LGLC) is to
preserve the world-renowned water quality of Lake George and the rare plants and animals
within the lakes 150,000-acre watershed by permanently protecting open space through
conservation easement and fee acquisition.

The purpose of the Commission generally is to preserve, protect, and enhance the
unique natural, scenic and recreational resources of the Lake George Park. To do so the
Commission has specific regulatory and enforcement powers relating to activities on the
lake, along the shoreline and within the land drainage basin. The site offers

Founded in 1937 as a service and lobbying organization for municipal planning and
zoning boards in New York State, the New York Planning Federation still maintains an
emphasis on education and technical assistance to our members. Our mission is simple: to
promote sound planning, land use and zoning practices in New York State so that orderly
growth and development may occur balanced with necessary resources conservation. This
site offers useful information about their annual conference, services, planning grants,
hot topics, and also includes a resource library.

NYS-DEC is one of the regulatory agencies in the Lake George Basin. Their website
contains a multitude of useful information, including but not limited to: Regional Office
contact information, department descriptions, permit applications, NYS-DEC regulations, Environmental
Notice Bulletin, press releases, announcements, State Environmental Quality Review
(SEQR) regulations, and agency directories.
New York State Department of State (Quality Communities, Division of Coastal Resources,

NYS-DOS has been heavily involved and engaged in Lake George issues. This department
funnels money into programs in the basin to educate about lake issues and fix water

-Quality Community Task Force-An Executive Order by Governor Pataki was
signed in January 2000 that created this Task Force. This initiative is designed to
promote effective land development, preservation and rehabilitation programs at the local
level and will foster intermunicipal cooperation in responding to the needs and
opportunities arising at the local level. The intent of the Quality Communities Task Force
is to ensure that New Yorks initiatives in economic development and environmental
protection take into account and complement the priorities of individual communities.
