Water Conservation

Help protect the environment and practice water conservation

Cutting back on water use is good for your septic tank, good for Lake George and good for the environment. Following are some great ways to do this.

  • Low-flush toilets (1 gallon)
  • No-flush composting toilets (they are odor free!) The LGA office maintains a composting toilet- stop by our office if you would like to learn more about it!
  • Fillers in the toilet tank (A water filled plastic bottle works nicely) Do not use bricks or stones that could damage your toilet.
  • Faucet aerators reduce the amount of water flowing from the faucet and down the drain.
  • Flow-reducing showerheads can reduce water consumption by 75%.
  • Leak detection and repair -Make sure you check for leaks and have any problems repaired quickly.
  • Read appliance manuals for tips on saving water. (Run full loads, use less detergent, etc. Front-loading washing machines use much less water than top loading machines. )
