Water Conservation

Cutting back on water use is good for your septic tank, good for Lake
George and good for the environment. Following are some great ways to do this.
- Low-flush
toilets (1 gallon)
- No-flush composting
toilets (they are odor free!) The LGA office maintains a composting toilet- stop by
our office if you would like to learn more about it!
- Fillers in the
toilet tank (A water filled plastic bottle works nicely) Do not use bricks or stones
that could damage your toilet.
- Faucet aerators
reduce the amount of water flowing from the faucet and down the drain.
- Flow-reducing
showerheads can reduce water consumption by 75%.
- Leak detection
and repair -Make sure you check for leaks and have any problems repaired quickly.
- Read appliance
manuals for tips on saving water. (Run full loads, use less detergent, etc.
Front-loading washing machines use much less water than top loading machines. )
