Biographies (in alphabetical order)

SALIM AMERSI (2013) – Lake George
Salim is a year-round resident of Lake George and has been the president of Surfside on the Lake Resort since 1984. He received the 2009 Watershed Stewardship Award from the Lake George Watershed Coalition. He is active in real estate investment and development in both Lake George and Quebec, Canada. In 1982, he launched a pharmaceutical company in the Congo, Africa. From 1978 – 1984, he imported textiles, spirits, appliances, electronics and more into the Congo from the USA, Africa, Asia, and Europe. He was born in Rwanda and raised in Kenya, England, and Canada.

BRUCE ASHBY (2012*) – Bolton Landing
Bruce's professional experience includes sales and marketing for Eastman Kodak. He also created and owned S&W X-Ray of Rochester, NY. For eight months of the year, Bruce and his family reside in Bolton Landing. Bruce supported the purchase of the LGA's Floating Classroom boat, the Rosalia Anna Ashby.  Education: University of Maryland (BS).

GRAHAM BAILEY (2012*) – Silver Bay
Graham is a registered professional engineer in New York and Maine, with knowledge of highway engineering and related safety issues. He worked almost 30 years for the Federal Highway Administration and for highway programs in New York State, Maine, and New York City. Graham also served as the zoning enforcement officer for the town of Hague, where he reorganized the town's planning and zoning procedures, to improve public understanding of the ordinances and requirements. Graham is past president of the Kiwanis Club of Ticonderoga, and serves on the board of directors for Arcady Bay. He organized and chaired the 2007 Lake George Open Water Swim Marathon.   Education: University of Connecticut (BS). Graham received an additional graduate certificate from Indiana University.

DAN BEHAN (2012*) – Bolton Landing
Dan and his wife reside in Saratoga Springs and Bolton Landing.   Dan is a project manager for Saratoga Prime Properties, and has 25 years of experience in marina management and development, including the Harris Bay Yacht Club in Cleverdale, and the Bolton Landing Marina.  He is affiliated with the Northeast Marine Trades Association and is a former Rotarian in Saratoga Springs. Dan has been a member of the Zebra Mussel Task Force since it began in 2000.  Education: SUNY Canton; Niagara University.

J. BUCKLEY BRYAN, Jr. (2012*) – Bolton Landing
Buck is a retired USAir senior captain, a retired naval officer and pilot, and the recipient of a Naval Letter of Commendation. He is currently an adjunct professor at Adirondack Community College. He is president of the Adirondack Community College Foundation and a member of the Lake George Power Squadron. Buck is a founding member of the Helen V. Froehlich Legacy Society for planned gifts to the LGA.  In 2010, he was inducted into the John Apperson Society by the Lake George Basin Land Conservancy due to extensive involvement with West Brook Water Remediation Project. Also in 2010, Buck received the Charles H. Tuttle Citation, the LGA's highest honor. Education: (AAS), (AAS), (BS), (MA).

JAMES N. CASSACIO (2014) Diamond Point
Jim has 18 years of experience in the human resource and software field. He is currently a salesperson with McDonald Real Estate Professionals. He lives in Bolton Landing with his wife Tenee, who has lived in Bolton her entire life. Jim is a volunteer with the Hyde Collection in Glens Falls.
Education: Johnson & Wales University, Providence, RI (degree in management)

DANIEL DAVIES (2013) – Dunham's Bay
Dan is the co-owner of Davies & Davies and Associates Real Estate LLC. He has been actively selling real estate in and around Lake George since 1993. Dan is a past treasurer and president for the Warren County Real Estate Multiple Listing Service. He also is a past chief of the North Queensbury Fire Company and has served on the board of directors for the Warren County Association of Realtors. In 2009 he received the Realtor of the Year award from the Warren County Association of Realtors and in 2008 he received the Post-Star's 20 under 40 award. Education: Siena College (BS in Finance)

ROBERT R. de BUYS (2012) – Hague
Bob spent his professional career in the banking industry. He retired as senior vice president and chief credit policy officer with Wachovia Bank in Birmingham, Alabama.  Bob was the commander of the 117th Intelligence Squadron of the Alabama Air National Guard and retired as Lt. Colonel. Bob was treasurer of the Hague Bicentennial Committee and the original archivist for the Hague Historical Museum. He currently serves on the finance committee of the Birmingham Botanical Gardens.  Bob divides his time between Hague and Birmingham, Alabama.  Education: University of Virginia (BA); University of Alabama (MBA).

WILLIAM DUTCHER (2013*) – Pilot Knob
Since 1983, Bill has been the owner and president of Americade Inc. His background includes decades of experience in marketing, communications, and public relations at Bultaco, AMF/Harley-Davidson, and Kamyr. He is affiliated with several boat and motorcycle associations. He is the recipient of many awards relating to Americade, including “Citizen of the Year” from the Adirondack North Country Association, and the “Tourism Partner Award” from the Adirondack Regional Council. Bill and his wife reside in Pilot Knob. Education: Harvard College (BA).

MADISON K. FINLEY (2014*) – Diamond Point
Matt retired from Dutchess Community College as academic dean and associate professor of computer information systems. He is a professional jazz musician, recording artist and composer. Matt lives in Basin Bay in Bolton, and Dutchess County in downstate New York, where he was the past president of the Pine Plains Library Board and the past chair of the Pine Plains Democratic Party.  He currently serves as the chair of the Board of Assessment Review. Education: Union (BA, cum laude), St. Rose (MA). Certified NYS teacher. Certified Computer Professional (CCP).

MICHAEL GRASSO (2014*) – Lake George
Mike lives on Assembly Point.  He is a vice president and an owner of Cool Insuring Agency in Queensbury, NY.  He previously worked for the Hartford Insurance Company. He is currently chairman of the Warren County Republican Committee and serves on the board of directors of Dunham's Bay Rod and Gun Club. For 17 years, Mike served on the boards of the Capital District Regional Planning Commission and the Schenectady Economic Development Corp, and has chaired both of these organizations.  He also served on the board of directors of Big Brothers/Big Sisters.  Mike is a licensed insurance and bond agent, certified property and casualty underwriter, and a certified insurance counselor.  He is also a NRA pistol instructor and range safety officer.  Education: Siena College (BS).

VICTOR HERSHAFT (2012) – Bolton Landing
Victor and his family spend their summers in Bolton Landing. He spent his entire career in various capacities at Paxar Corporation and retired as president and chief operating officer in 2007. Paxar, which was founded by his father and uncle, was sold to Avery-Dennison Corporation in 2007. Victor is currently board vice president of Westchester Jewish Community Services and board chairman of the Double H Hole in the Wall Ranch.  Education: University of Rochester.

H. THOMAS JARRETT, PE  (2013) – Kattskill Bay
A year-round resident of Echo Bay in Kattskill Bay, Tom is the owner of Jarrett Engineering, a civil engineering and environmental consulting firm in Glens Falls. He is affiliated with the American Society of Civil Engineers and formerly worked as a project manager for C.T. Male and Associates, PC.  Education: Cornell University (BS).

CATHY LaBOMBARD  (2014) - Huletts Landing
Cathy lives in both Huletts Landing and Queensbury where she served for 10 years as a member of the Town of Queensbury Planning Board, and for two years on the Open Space Committee. Cathy taught high school science for 29 years and retired from Hadley Luzerne Central School. Cheryl is a current CSLAP (Citizens Statewide Lake Assessment Program) volunteer. Education: Nazareth College (BS); SUNY Plattsburg (MA).

KAREN LARKIN (2014) - Cleverdale
Karen lives in Cleverdale. Karen works as a financial analyst for the Encompass Group of the Ayco Company, LP, a subsidiary of Goldman Sachs. Previously she worked as a finance director for Fidelity Investments and as a CPA for PricewaterhouseCoopers. Education: Boston College (BS), Babson College (MBA).

CHERYL LAMB (2014*) – Bolton Landing
Cheryl splits her time between Bolton Landing and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Cheryl retired from business after 31 years as owner and operator of Norowal Marina in Bolton Landing. Cheryl is an accomplished pianist and volunteers for many charities both locally and in Florida. Education: SUNY Farmingdale (AS).  Registered dental hygienist in New York and Florida.

FRANK LASCH (2013) – Kattskill Bay
After discharge from the US Navy in 1960, Frank joined the Albany law firm of DeGraff, Foy, where he served as a partner until April of 2010.  While in the navy, Frank served aboard two destroyer ships: the USS Robert Wilson and the USS Parsons.  As past president of the USS Slater Museum in Albany, Frank helped restore the ship to her former glory.  The USS Slater, a WWII destroyer and convoy ship, and the only one of her kind remaining, was loaned to the Greek Navy for forty years before returning to Albany. Frank has also served as president of the Lake George Club and the Fort Orange Club in Albany.  Education: Cornell University Law School.

JOHN SCHANINGER (2013*) – Huletts Landing
John's professional background includes five years with the Darrin Freshwater Institute, including three years as a laboratory supervisor.  He also worked for three years with Drew Chemical in industrial water treatment, and thirteen years with Cascade Control Corporation as a manufacturer’s representative and distributor for controls and instrumentation. John was a real estate agent with Better Way Realty and a representative and distributor for Tri Star.  He also was a representative and distributor for Fluid Conditioning, selling industrial products.  He resides in Huletts Landing and Clifton Park.  Education: University of Wisconsin (BS).
