Invasives Summer Hunt
June 5 - August 18, 2023
Join the LGA’s first Summer Invasives Hunt, June 5, 2023 through August 18, 2023. Working as a community science team spread throughout the Lake George watershed, we’ll hunt for invasives on land and water, post photos on Facebook, and create a map of our findings at the end of the summer. Everyone who takes part in the hunt throughout the summer will be eligible to enter into a raffle for four Floating Classroom tickets.

2023 Invasive Species Awareness Week Guided Walk
Protecting our land and Lake is a walk in the woods. Join us on Friday, June 9 at 10 am, for an exploratory stroll along the Warren County Bike Trail in Lake George. Throughout the walk – which is part of New York’s annual Invasive Species Awareness Week — our educators will show you how to spot invasives and report your findings to iMapInvasives.

All residents, businesses, and property owners in the Lake George basin are invited to join the LGA and an invited group of scientists, landscapers, excavators, banks, realtors, and experts on the economics of protecting water quality as we focus on the actions we must take to protect our Lake, together.

Water Assessments by Volunteer Evaluators (WAVE)

Sampling: July 1 - September 30Want a reason to spend more time by the water? Help New York State map and evaluate one of the many streams that flow into Lake George. All you need to bring is some time and the desire to be outdoors. The LGA will supply training and equipment.

AIS Monitoring Weekend
Training: August 4 or August 11, 2023
Monitoring: August 18-20, 2023Get out on the Lake this summer as part of the LGA's aquatic invasive species (AIS) monitoring weekend, August 18-20. AIS monitoring in the Lake is crucial for early detection of new invaders that may get by the inspection station and boat launch stewards. As a weekend volunteer, you will survey a section of shoreline for aquatic invaders, including plants, mussels, snails, and fish. In-person training will be held in advance to help with species identification.
