In light of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Sackett vs. EPA on May 25, 2023, Lake George Waterkeeper Chris Navitsky says he will work more closely with municipal governments to protect wetlands that are no longer covered by the Clean Water Act or under Adirondack Park Agency jurisdiction.
Speaking with the Lake George Mirror, Navitsky estimated the ruling put 20% of wetlands in the Lake George basin in jeopardy of disturbance, which could compromise the quality of Lake George.
“We will work with all towns in the basin to ensure that local zone and planning reviews give these important natural resources particular review and attention, Navitsky said.
